Since we have the new little one, we thought that we should establish a Christmas tradition of some kind for her. My bright idea was to make sugar cookies and maybe use the same cookie cutter every year. My husband had gotten a moose cookie cutter on a trip to Alaska, and since that was the only cookie cutter in the house, we went with that. I will say that we eventually went back to the cookie cutter everyone has - a glass. The moose was a debacle. Apparently, it is a good idea to chill the cookie dough. I could have used that information prior to making a huge mess. I thought deformed moose antlers were festive though. After cutting out two, I declared that this was no longer our Christmas tradition. The six month old had lost interest as well. We had a mother-daughter conference and decided that one great big giant cookie was the answer. People love giant cookies; they are for sale all over the mall. All I can say is that as with frying and smothering things in gravy, all cookies are good covered in icing...no matter the chaos that was their creation. Our new Christmas tradition, find somebody else to make cookies for us.
