Here is my advice. Just go to a fall festival and buy one of those fried pies in plastic wrap. I thought the dough looked pretty good to start with, and then I tried to fold it. Some of you more experience apple pie fryers can probably diagnose the issue. I suspect it has something to do with me scanning the recipe and getting the gist of it. I also didn't use a rolling pin of any sort. I was going old school; back before rolling pins. I'm not sure of when the pre-rolling pin era was, as I suspect that it was one of the first cooking utensils invented. I don't own a rolling pin, since I typically purchase anything you might make with one. I did ignore the recipe when it said to use all purpose flour. I never buy that. Martha White invented self-rising flour for a reason and that reason is so I don't have to own all purpose flour. There are many reasons this project failed. My husband is quite disappointed, because he was looking forward to something sweet. He may have to go our for ice cream...and dinner; I'm pooped.
