Yes, the world stopped in the Southeast about a week ago. In our area, we had 5 to 6 inches of snow. This gave us all an opportunity to talk about the way Southerners approach playing in the snow. When I asked my husband what they used for a sled up in Buffalo, he thought I was insane. In case you didn't know, they use a sled for a sled. We used waxed cardboard the majority of the time. I have friends who pulled one another around the streets on a car hood. I suspect that wasn't the safest way to go. My nephew went down a hill in a kayak. It looked like fun, and I think he was fairly well protected in that. Others used lids from storage totes or garbage cans. Another friend used deflated pool floats. I saw one who used an ironing board. The awesome part was of course when he flew off the ironing board. And, everyone was flying by the snowman they built that was decked out in SEC gear. At least the snowmen were more snow than leaves this time.
